Many heart attack victims just die within the 2 hours of heart attack if they are not provided with sufficient first aid. They could be lived if they recognize their heart attack and get a quick treatment. Following are some useful heart attack emergency tips that will be helpful to fight against heart attack emergency.

HEART ATTACK

What Should You Do First After Having a Heart Attack?

  • First dial 911 without any delay. Make the heart attack victim sit on their knees up and their back leaning on some support. Do this if heart attack victim is conscious.

  • Lie the victim on his/her back and check the clearance of their airways and check their breathing. Do this if they are unconscious. If you find any foreign object or something else, such as tongue in their airways, then try to clear their airways.
  • Give them two breaths if you find them not taking breaths after counting 10. Provide breath to them by clipping their nose with your hands so that air will not loose. Also maximize the oxygen content by breathing away from them. Do the head tilt chin lift procedure by placing your hand first on the forehead and the first two fingers of your other hand underneath the heart attack victim’s chin and then tilt his/her head back. This exercise will maximize the flow of air through the trachea.
  • Check the blood circulation by their pulse rate. The blue coloration means there is no circulation or very lower circulation, while any minor movement shows that there is circulation. Check the re-coloration by pinching, if you find the fast re-coloring then it means circulation exists. Breathing is the good sign of circulation.
  • If you don’t find any sign of circulation, then begin the cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Put a pressure on their heart by interlocking your fingers and press the palm of your hand. Press their chest to 5 cm but take care that you are not putting your entire weight on their chest. Put the pressure on the nipple line.
  • Do the same practice about 30 times and then give them two rescue breaths.
  • Do the 30:2 cycle until you are provided with any immediate help.

Important Tips

  • Keep the heart attack victim calm and other people who are with you.
  • Follow the instructions of 911’s operator carefully.
